Help with Cardinal.
Most of what people write in about is answered below. If yours is not there, use the form and a person will read it.
Before you write
The questions that come up most, answered in full.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open Settings inside Cardinal and tap Restore purchases. The same button sits on the Cardinal Pro screen. Restoring only works from the Apple Account that bought the subscription, so if you have more than one, sign in with the one you used.
How do I cancel Cardinal Pro?
Apple handles every subscription, so cancelling happens in iOS rather than in Cardinal: open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then Cardinal.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the period you already paid for runs out, and everything free stays free afterwards. A study you have already written stays readable and exportable even once a subscription lapses.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are Apple's to give, not ours, because Apple takes the payment and we never see your card. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account that made the purchase. Write to us as well if something in the app is the reason.
Why can't I read the NKJV, NASB, CSB or NLT offline?
Those four are licensed from their publishers, and the licenses do not permit storing the text on your device. Cardinal fetches them a chapter at a time and keeps nothing, so they need a connection every time and cannot be searched offline. It is a genuine limitation rather than a setting you can change.
The other thirteen translations can all be read offline. Eight are built into the app and work from the first launch. The other five can be downloaded in full from the translation picker, which also builds their search index.
My notes and highlights are missing on another device.
Cardinal syncs through your own private iCloud, not through an account with us. Both devices need to be signed into the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive turned on, and Cardinal needs to be allowed to use iCloud in the iOS Settings app under your name, then iCloud.
If iCloud was unavailable the first time Cardinal launched, it falls back to storing everything on that device alone. Turning iCloud on afterwards fixes new writing, but anything written while it was off stays on the device it was written on. Write to us before deleting the app if you are unsure, because deleting it removes device-only data for good.
Can I change the app's language?
Cardinal follows your phone's language on its own, and you can override it in Cardinal's Settings, which lists all nine: English, Español, Português, Français, Deutsch, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文 and 繁體中文.
Eight of the nine also read a Bible in that language. A Korean translation is not licensed yet, so Korean currently reads with an English text.
Can I add my own verses?
Yes. Alongside the fifty-plus curated packs you can build a pack from any verses you choose, and you can describe a reading path in your own words and have Cardinal shape one around it. Both are free.
Is Cardinal on Android?
Not today. Cardinal is on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and needs iOS 17 or later.
Write to us
This goes straight to a person, not a ticket queue.
What you type here goes to the form service that delivers it and then to us. Nothing from inside the app travels with it: your reading, notes, prayers and highlights stay where they are. See the privacy policy for the rest.
